100m Sprint

The 100m demands maximum acceleration followed by sustained top-end velocity. Elite technique balances forward lean during acceleration with tall, relaxed mechanics at top speed.

Sprint mechanics explained

Outperform

Phases of Movement
1

Block Start (0–10m)

Powerful triple extension from the blocks with ~45° body angle, head down, arms driving aggressively.

2

Acceleration (10–30m)

Gradual rise from 45° to upright. Each stride longer than the last, knee drive forward, not up.

3

Max Velocity (30–60m)

Tall posture, knee drive cycling at ~90°, foot strike directly under hip. Relaxed face and shoulders.

4

Maintenance (60–100m)

Hold form as fatigue sets in. Athletes typically lose 2–4% velocity in final 20m — minimize that loss.
