Phases of Movement
1

Curve Start

Stagger position with body angled toward inside of lane. Drive aggressively but expect curve drag.

2

Curve Running

Inward lean from ankles (not waist). Right arm drives across body, left arm shorter and tighter.

3

Straight Acceleration

Coming off curve, athletes can re-accelerate ~2–3% — exploit this 'free speed'.

4

Final Drive

Maintain top-end mechanics. Avoid overstriding when fatigued.

Coaching Cues
"Lean from the ankles"
"Pump the outside arm"
"Run off the curve, don't fade"
